Today was too cold to be out there, which has been like that for the past couple of days. But do you know what makes my life brighter? Omeka! Today, I had a Omeka training. I found this platform fairly effective for exhibiting your researches, making historical collections, or some sort of the archival work. The install flow was cohesive, too. Here is the flow that I followed:
- Go to Sites at Grinnell, and go to CPanel dashboard.
- Click on “domains” in the tab also named “domains”
- Create domain with a name that ends with your main domain. (That’ll be your sub domain!)
- Wait for 10 seconds or so, refresh the page, and turn on “Force HTTPS redirect”
- Go back to the dashboard, click on “Omeka”
- Click “Install application,” and choose the subdomain you just created (choose the one with https (not http) and without www!)
- Go to “my application” tab, and click and visit the admin page from there!
I also installed the plugins for cvs and showing the Google documents on Omeka. I will update on how it goes when I use Omeka for the next time!!
